Falling Ice
Exit Glacier, 6.4.2006
Back in 2001 a couple -- on their honeymoon no less -- died in a freak accident after being crushed by a slab of ice that fell from Exit Glacier (pictured). The plaintiffs for the deceased sued the park service, complaining that there were no signs cautioning that a huge slab of ice falling on your head could kill you. They won. In addition to a tidy settlement, there are now signs and ropes galore, but many visitors ignore them. Including Master's mom (pictured). Is it any wonder where master got his general contempt for authority? You go Mom Nibbe!
