Nothing against dip netting, it’s done for smelt down this way, but wouldn’t a fly rod be a bit more sporting? Hope ya got stocked up on Sockeye.
Reds on a fly rod is a rush, so I hear, not being a fly fisherman myself. Dip netting is intended for “subsistence”, allowed only in certain places at certain times and for Alaskan residents only. If nothing else it provides a fine opportunity to drink beer and catch up with friends.
