Were the whales washed up on shore for some reason or caught to feed the bears? I cannot believe how close people were taking pictures? Seems pretty dangerous to me, guess caus they were eating not interested in humans?

People living in the city of Kaktovik killed the whale and harvested it onshore. The bears were eating the leftovers.
