Dirty Little Secret
We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.
-M. Acklam
Damn straight. We're loyal, that's for sure, if not a bit gullible as well. Don't let it go to your head, though; we're perfectly comfortable at home alone, hours at a time curled up on the couch, or on the bed taking a nap all fours pointed heavenward, or in the backyard on a summer day spread on a cool spot of shaded lawn. Uprights think we adore their company, but the dirty little secret in dogdom is that mostly we're in it for the treats and exercise. It's in our genes donchya know.
Master and N are making wedding plans and it appears June remains the target date, and Alaska the venue. It will be a small affair, only select friends and family (watch your mail) will be invited. Bring your cameras as it will be the last time you are likely to see Master dressed in a tuxedo, and N in Manolo Blahniks, because Master says every beautiful woman should own at least one pair of Manolos.
By then Master will have navigated another semester of school and come closer to defining his dissertation topic(s). N will continue to impress her colleagues with her boundless grace, vitality, and wisdom. As for Lucy and I, we will eagerly wait for them to return home each day, wagging our tails at the door, never letting on our dirty little secret.
